- As the centerpiece of the training, the objective of The Oil Patch Game™ is to identify specific opportunities to improve speed and reduce waste in the process of getting a new well on production.
- The game shows participants the true costs of errors, delays, rework, miscommunication and misalignments and demonstrates how the application of Lean principles and tools can eliminate waste to save money and accelerate production.

- Reduction in Location Selection to Release To Drill cycle times, bringing wells through the process much faster by using Lean tools to identify the root causes of rework and delays, and eliminating them
- Reduction in days to drill wells by using Lean tools to identify and eliminate non-productive time and maximizing time on bottom
- Reducing rig move times by using SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Dies) tools
- Reducing lost time looking for parts and materials by applying Lean tools such as 6S and workplace organization principles to storerooms and warehouses
