Our Approach

We put on our steel-toed boots and hard hats and work directly with field personnel and their leaders to implement measurable change in well performance, as well as delivering training to sustain these gains.

We’ll begin with a three- to six-week assessment that will thoroughly evaluate the asset and develop a business case for the jointly-designed implementation project.  Frequent updates to leadership ensure we’ll stay on track to deliver the promised results.  Your personnel will work right along with us to learn our techniques, tools, and approaches.

Work Center Management SystemSM/LOE Control

Working jointly with you, we develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and jointly design reports to track them.  Thorough analysis in action-oriented and efficient meetings stimulates root cause analysis of variance from the plan for each KPI.  We make things visible with Visual Performance Boards so the whole team can see the progress.

Lease Operating Expense is managed and controlled by working with your corporate purchasing department to establish preferred vendor contracts and use competitive bidding and reverse auctions to get the best prices and service levels.  We’ll work with Foreman and Lease Operators to increase financial awareness of replace vs. repair decisions and ensure you are getting the most out of your invoice approval and processing system.

Location Selection to Release to Drill

We engage the geoscientists, engineers, landmen, and regulatory personnel to first understand and then streamline the cycle from idea to release to drill, eliminating waste and lost time.

Drilling Optimization (Spud to Put-on-Production)

We begin by jointly designing the “ideal well” using publicly available data from other operators to establish a best practice.  Finding and eliminating lost time ensures maximum bit-on-bottom time.  Using Lean techniques, we’ll optimize the “rig down, move rig up” process to cut days out of the drilling time of each well.  Planning and scheduling drilling and stimulating new wells in existing fields will help minimize the impact on older wells.

Capacity planning will allow you to have the right drilling and completion materials on hand at the right time, as well as having the right organization in place to meet your growth challenges.

Well Management

Mining the collective knowledge and experience of the Lease Operators, Foreman, and Production Engineers results in developing best practices for maintaining and improving base well production. Providing Lease Operators with achievable well targets and reviewing wells regularly generates low-cost actions to increase production by eliminating downtime and optimizing production rates.  Evaluating operator routes and determining the acceptable risk of skipping some wells gives Lease Operators extra time to optimize the performance of their wells.

Well Work

Together, we will develop the process for efficient workovers and recompletions from idea origination through project review.  Production Engineers play a key role in this process.  We’ll jointly ensure clear accountabilities for all phases of the process from the headquarters to the field personnel who schedule and execute the job.

Training

Knowing what to do and how and when to do it is the foundation of our training approach.  We’ll jointly develop for each Lease Operator level what they should know and be able to do with all key pieces of equipment in the production process.  Evaluating each operator clarifies where training is needed.  Using our own expertise as well as that of your vendors, we’ll ensure training is free of sales pitches.  We’ll begin in the classroom with background and theory and will always end up in the field where we will “touch the iron” to practice what has been learned.  Training is reinforced with operators demonstrating their new expertise to their Foreman.
